Belle Isle Park, part of North Vancouver's Lions Gate Village, opened as one of the district's newer inclusive play spaces. A tall wood-and-metal climbing tower with a slide anchors the structure side, alongside a run of balance poles and an orange arch climbing feature for kids working on coordination and confidence.
What sets Belle Isle apart is its accessibility design: a communication board near the entrance lets kids who use picture symbols to speak point-and-share their way through interactions with other kids, without needing verbal language. It's a small addition that makes a real difference for some families.
A splash pad with multiple jets sits alongside the play structure — bring a change of clothes, it runs through the summer. The park isn't gated, so keep an eye on younger kids. Bathrooms are inside the adjacent community centre, and there's free underground parking there too — just know it can get busy at peak times, so an early or off-peak visit is easiest with little ones.
