Ambleside playground sits in the middle of the expansive Ambleside Park in West Vancouver. The playground got a facelift in 2018, and follows the same type of West Coast natural style that you can also enjoy at Dundarave and John Lawson playgrounds.

You won’t find any loud coloured metal here, as natural wood, dark metal and plenty of rocks rule. The design features rope ladders and climbing domes, seesaw, stumps for climbing onto and hopping, climbing platforms, logs balanced on stumps and rocks as balance beams, a wooden boat and playhouse, a slide, a digger, and more. You’ll also find regular swings, a baby swing and a lounger in this playground.

As it’s only steps away from Ambleside beach, it doesn’t have a dedicated sandbox, but there is plenty of beach sand for digging and building. Parking is on Argyle Avenue or in designated dirt lots off of Argyle. You can also walk down from taking transit on Marine Dr. The playground is very close to the street, and although it doesn’t have any traffic other than park patrons looking for parking, it can get fairly busy with cars on a nice weekend.

If you want to extend your visit to Ambleside, then you can find pretty much everything (well, except for solitude and tranquility) for a fun day within an easy walk. Right nearby are picnic tables, washrooms and a food stand, large green spaces, Ambleside pond with ducks and swans, sports fields, a skate park and basketball courts. You can walk out onto the pier, or take the seawalk east to Park Royal or west to Dundarave (and visit Dundarave Beacho and Dundarave Playground
