Beaches in North and West Vancouver

Ambleside beach is the epicentre of beach life in West Vancouver, and probably on the North Shore. This long sandy strip of a beach is located in the expansive Ambleside Park which stretches from Lions Gate Bridge and Park Royal all the way to the foot of 13th St, and exploring the park and surrounding area can easily fill a day.

This is a great beach for all weather play, from beach combing during low tide to digging and building and splashing in summertime.

Less than 2 km from Ambleside Park and beach via Centennial Seawalk, Dundarave is the smaller sibling of Ambleside. It’s a popular place to spend a few hours with kids, especially in the summer. At any time of the year, it has ample space for play, good walking paths and fantastic views of Vancouver, Lions Gate Bridge and Burrard inlet.

This rocky beach with eye popping views of Deep Cove waterfront and Indian Arm is situated in Panorama Park right in the heart of idyllic Deep Cove, with lots of options for extending your visit.

This little known gem in West Vancouver is usually very quiet, even during nice summer days, and has a good amount of space for kids to run around or go splash/swim in the water during warm weather. The only drawbacks are lack of facilities, and stair access.

This large fun beach, hidden in a residential area in West Vancouver, offers plenty of space and interesting features from driftwood to tide pools to streams for kids of all ages. The only drawback is lack of facilities.

While this beach in the western part of West Vancouver is not large, it has phenomenal views and it’s in a protected cove that’s great for swimming in the summer!
